The first six business months since Scala’s inception have shown great demand for our services. During H1 2016, Scala has completed four fund closings and several international secondary transactions. Additionally, Scala has advised institutional investors in their alternative asset strategy creation and implementation. In order to expand our international footprint and better serve our growing client base, our team head Jerome Bouix will move to Stockholm and we will establish a new office in London.
We launched Scala Fund Advisory in January 2016 to offer private equity advisory services to both institutional investors and best in class fund managers from around the world. During the first half of the year we have completed closings for a large real estate asset, a Nordic private debt fund Nest Capital, an European venture capital fund Open Ocean Capital and successfully collaborated with Hamilton Lane, one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers, in their latest fundraising.
We have also actively provided secondary transaction advisory by completing several transactions with large international buyers. Secondary transactions provide great synergies to our primary placement business and we see the activity level to increase as the secondary market has become more liquid and an essential tool in managing institutional private equity portfolios.
In general, we have seen growing demand from institutional investors for the alternative asset class as a substitute to listed equities and fixed income. Due to this trend we have advised institutional investors in their alternative asset strategy and implementation, and see great potential in developing this service further in the coming years.
As demonstrated by our first half year in business, we are very happy with operations thus far and look forward to an even more exciting future. In autumn 2016, we will be fundraising for high-quality managers within Swedish buyout, Nordic real estate, European direct lending and global buyout strategies.
We wish you a warm and sunny summer!
